It’s been mentioned throughout the ages but I’m going to repeat it here – all politics is local.  And so this post is about the local politics of my municipality of Brimbank.  While there is the excitement of federal by-elections happening in South Australia and New South Wales and the general elections scheduled for the Northern Territory in August, the more interesting politics is happening in my own backyard.

Since the Kororoit by-election, the local branches of the ALP have been in pitted battle with each other.  There has been an increase in what could only be called retribution through their minions on Brimbank’s municipal council.  It was only last month that the controlling ALP faction of the council arbitrarily changed the proposed council budget at the last minute to steal funds from some wards for apparently urgent soccer club upgrades in other wards.

While the factional battles rage on, it’s the poor citizens of Brimbank that continue to suffer.  Fortunately for the local population the sole Greens councillor, Miles Dymott, has actually been working for the Brimbank community along with Victorian upper house member Colleen Hartland.

It will be fun to watch how many stooges the ALP manages to stand in the council elections in November this year.
