On Sunday, the new outdoor pool at Sunshine’s leisure and recreation centre was opened to much fanfare by an assortment of local politicians, ALP all the way (except of course Geraldine Brooks, Greens Councillor for Harvester Ward) and of course a chorus of locals. There is a long history to the outdoor pool in Sunshine, and of course there is an assortment of stories and counter-stories. But one story that can’t be re-written is how the new outdoor pool, and indeed the leisure and recreation centre’s redevelopment, was actually made possible.
