The footy is back!
Please Note: this post has nothing to do with politics, climate change, political parties, or other such party apparachik stuff. It’s about sports…yes that’s right, sports.
I’m pretty stoked that the footy is back (ie Australian Rugby Union (ARU) and the other footy Australian Football League (AFL))! The results of the NAB Cup…um something I don’t watch…may be a good sign for the Geelong Football Club (GFC). The team has some of their key players back from respite and recovery, bolstering what looks like a solid team anyway. While I’m not a huge fan of the NAB Cup, the result is positive but not an indicator of September’s ranking. As an aside it annoys me greatly that the three-letter-acronym, GFC has been hijacked by the global financial crisis. The crises come and go but the Geelong Football Club has been a stable part of Victoria’s footy scene for a very long time. (That was not about politics, climate change, political parties, or other such party apparachik stuff.)
Anyway, it looks like an exciting year for my beloved Queensland Reds. Rumors abound that they have a pretty good team and the pre-season looked very promising. But it’s early days and they’ve look promising in most pre-seasons for the last few years, in my humble opinion. My fingers are crossed they don’t suck as badly this year as they did last year. The newsletters were difficult to read each week last year.
Of course I’m also looking forward to the international schedule and going to the Melbourne game. I’m also looking forward to seeing the Wallabies overcome our international rivals. And when it’s not the Wallabies, I’ll be barracking for the All Blacks.
The footy being back is a welcome distraction from the hectic worlds of politics, net surfing and work.

Not as good as the Blues!

Well the Catters showed they can triumph under pressure with the narrow victory over the Hawks. It’s going to be a bitter rivalry between these clubs this year in my humble opinion.
Carn the Cats!
