Lobbyists for the big polluters are crawling the halls of Parliament every day, but ordinary voters haven’t had the same access or influence. Until now.

BeDH: Is Higgins truly blue?

There seems to be this perpetuated political urban myth about the seat of Higgins; “it’s a true blue-blood Liberal Party seat”. The arbitrary geographical area known as “Higgins” has finally been reliquinished by former Treasurer (and thorn in Turnbull’s back) Peter Costello. But when you look at the numbers the seat is not really that safe, especially in a by-election.

The Australian Electoral Commission has announced the by-elections for Bradfield and Higgins will be held on Saturday, 5th December. Given that it’ll be a double-header by-election day, I reckon it’s deserving of a special live blog.
