New Zealand is much better placed to be a stronger regional partner, or “peace keeper” or “sheriff” than Australia. Some will decry me as being “un-Australian” or worse but in my humble opinion our neighbours from across the ditch are better placed for successful regional diplomacy than Australia. While there’s a very heathly (if not bordering on obsessive) rivalry between our nations, this is one area the Kiwis easily trump Australia.

But what could cause me to suggest such heresy; to commit such treasonous words to paper (ok…not paper but you know what I mean)?

Nice introduction but it’s a real shame the entire post isn’t re-posted here. Surely you could get the permissions seeing as you’re an opinion/analysis writer for theangle.org

BTW I did read the entire post and thought it was a pretty fair summary although I think Australia still will always outweigh NZ because of our “military industrial-complex” as you put it.
